1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your preferences and actions over time. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and device identifiers used in mobile apps.
We use the term "cookies" in this policy to refer to all such technologies collectively.
2. Cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the website and app to function. They cannot be disabled.
- Session management — keeps you signed in during your visit and securely stores your authentication state.
- Security tokens — CSRF protection tokens that prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
- Load balancing — routes your requests to the correct server instance to ensure consistent performance.
2.2 Functional cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. Disabling them may affect certain features.
- Preference storage — remembers your language, region, and display preferences across sessions.
- Onboarding state — tracks whether you have completed the app onboarding flow so we don't show it again.
2.3 Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. All data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
- Page analytics — records which pages are visited, time spent on each page, and navigation paths.
- Error tracking — captures technical errors and performance issues so our engineering team can fix them.
- Conversion tracking — measures how many visitors proceed to download the app, helping us evaluate marketing effectiveness.
3. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third-party services we use. We do not control these cookies; please refer to the respective privacy policies for details.
| Provider | Purpose | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Website traffic and usage analytics | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Maps Platform | Interactive maps and location search on the website | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | App download attribution (deep links) | apple.com/legal/privacy / policies.google.com/privacy |
We do not use advertising cookies or allow third-party ad networks to set cookies on our website or app.
4. Cookies in the mobile app
The GoFetch mobile app does not use browser cookies. Instead, it uses the following device-side storage mechanisms:
- Secure Keychain / Keystore — stores your authentication tokens securely using your device's hardware security.
- MMKV encrypted storage — stores app preferences and cached data locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not shared with third parties.
- Push notification token — a device identifier issued by Apple or Google used solely to deliver push notifications to your device.
5. How to manage cookies
Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.
Browser-specific guides:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Mobile app
You can clear all locally stored app data by going to your device's Settings → GoFetch → Clear Data, or by deleting and reinstalling the app. You can also revoke location or notification permissions at any time in your device settings.
6. Retention periods
Cookie retention varies by type:
- Session cookies — deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device for up to 12 months, or until you clear them manually.
- App local storage — retained until you clear app data or delete the app.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the website or app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
